Fat Tuesday is a book of two parts. The first part is all about Spence and his friends who plot to rob the supermarket they work at. The thing is Spence is already rich after inheriting a fortune from his late father. What Spence is really in it for is his friends. You learn in the book that Spencer grew up a loner and longing for friends. When he finally bonds with some people he meets backpacking he is willing to go to any lengths to keep them.
The second part is after the robbery when the group go on the run and end up at a festival called Fat Tuesday in Australia, which is a sort of Mardi Grais, where they dabble in drugs and Spence falls for the girl in his group.
This book is only a couple of hundred pages and probably one of the quickest I read, getting through it in a couple of sessions of a few hours each. It’s easy to follow without too many characters and definitely worth a read if you have a spare afternoon.
