Yesterday I went for a massage in this beauty salon on Filton Road in Bristol. It was a Groupon deal at £19.95 for an hour of either a Swedish, sports or aromatherapy massage. When I entered I was asked to fill out a quick form with my personal details. Then I was taken to the massage room where it smelled of aromatherapy oil and had relaxing music playing. The massage therapist made me feel at ease and asked which sort of massage I would like and if there are any areas I wanted her to work on. I find this has to be one of the most obvious but often overlooked questions when I have a massage. I chose the Sports Massage hoping that it would go deep enough to get rid of the knots that were bothering me on my back. I slipped between the towels and immediately felt relaxed.
When she came back in she gave me a choice of three oils I could have if I wanted. I’ve never been given this option but it is the sort of simple thing that goes a long way to enhance the overall experience. I chose Lavender. As she worked my back I could tell that she was passionate about her work and it didn’t take her long to find the problem areas. After a few minutes chat I started to drift off. Even though this was a sports massage I found it was just the the right pressure for her to work the knots out whilst leave me feeling quite relaxed. Not only that but she had very good communication to ask whether I wanted more or less pressure. A nice touch was the hot towel on my back after she had finished massaging it which I had never had before. I really couldn’t fault the massage therapist. She was very professional and spoke in a soft manner and for a small build she was surprisingly able to apply a lot of pressure. Even though this is clearly the sort of place where they could be quite busy she really did seem to care about what she was doing.
At the end it was the most satisfied I think I’ve ever felt and really didn’t want to get up. Afterwards in the reception she explained that they were doing a deal of four one hour massages for £85 instead of £180. I would have quite happily taken the offer up had it not been for the fact that I would have had to use it in the next two months. I highly recommend this place especially if you want a sports massage. I will definitely be back to try the other two types.
