This is one of those great mystery thrillers that has you turning every page eager to get to the bottom of the whodunnit crime.
There are only 6 key characters in the book, which is about the limit that I can keep track of who is who and what’s going on. There is the girl on the train Rachel, her ex husband Tom, his new wife Anna, the couple that live a few doors down the street Scott and Megan, and a psychologist called Kamal. There is also a mystery red head man, a couple of police officers and Rachel’s house mate. It is really well written and easy to follow switching between different days and peoples perspective.
I wouldn’t say it’s the most difficult or overly complex crime to solve and I managed to figure it out about two thirds of the way through the book. Still, an enjoyable story with very realistic characters. I read it from cover to cover in two days and will now watch the film to see if it can live up to the book (which it never does). Enjoy!
